Dry Eyes

Dry eye is one of the most common reasons patients go to see their eye doctor.  Dry eye occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears and/or the tears they produce are not healthy and evaporate too quickly.  It is often accompanied by a gritty/sandy sensation in the eyes. It can be a chronic, long-term condition that causes irritation, pain, tearing and can even compromise vision if it is left untreated.

Dry eyes can be caused by many things, including medications, age, hormonal changes, poor contact lens hygiene, and dry environmental conditions.  There are many methods to treat dry eye including the use of over-the-counter and prescription eye drops, oral supplements, and punctal plugs.

Our doctors specialize in the cornea and ocular surface and have expertise in the diagnosis, workup, and treatment of dry eyes.  Over the past few years, they have been asked to speak around the country on dry eyes and have also been invited to be on the advisory boards for many of the latest treatment options for dry eyes.  Our doctors are often referred patients by other ophthalmologists and optometrists to evaluate and treat dry eyes and they use the latest technology to evaluate the patient and suggest the best treatment options.

We are proud of our Patient Testimonials!
