Dr. Kalyani’s Charity Work

Dr. Kalyani worked in a medical clinic in Pommern, a small village in Tanzania, Africa.  Being the only medical clinic in the area, some patients would walk for 3 days straight to get their care at the clinic.

Dr. Kalyani’s duties ranged from casting broken bones to delivering babies!  While in Tanzania, Dr. Kalyani also tutored children at the local school and helped in the construction of the school’s dining hall.  He has also volunteered his time working internationally in clinics in India.  Here in the United States, Dr. Kalyani has worked as a health care provider on a Native American Reservation (Hopi tribe) in Arizona. During medical school and residency, he coordinated the University of Maryland Student Sight Savers Project, which provided free glaucoma screenings to Baltimore City residents who did not have the means to see an ophthalmologist and still provides a substantial amount of free eye care for those who cannot afford it.
