Refractive Surgery

Kalyani Eye Care is proud to offer the full range of refractive surgery to allow everyone the opportunity to achieve glasses independence and improved quality of life. This includes LASIK, SMILE, PRK, Evo Visian ICL surgery, and RLE surgery.

LASIK is a laser vision correction that can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It can dramatically reduce or eliminate the dependene on eyeglasses or contact lenses.  It is the most frequently performed elective vision correction surgery in the U.S., giving patients life-changing results.

SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) is a newer form of laser vision correction that also provides outstanding results, while avoiding the need of a LASIK flap. This allows for a quicker surgery and may reduce the risk for dry eye.

PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) was developed prior to LASIK and has proved to be very safe for patients with thinner corneas. PRK involves gently removing the surface cells of the cornea and applying laser energy directly to the surface of the eye to correct for your prescription. Visual outcomes are excellent, however recovery is slightly longer so typically PRK is reserved for patients who are not candidates for LASIK or SMILE.

During LASIK, SMILE, and PRK, the ophthalmologist uses the laser to reshape the cornea in order to improve your vision.  Our doctors are fellowship-trained refractive surgeons and use the most advanced technology, including "bladeless" LASIK.

EVO Visian ICL (implantable collamer lens) surgery allows for correction of high degrees of nearsightedness and astigmatism in patients who otherwise are not ideal candidates for laser vision correction. This procedure allows us to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses of contacts without removing any corneal tissue.

RLE (refractive lens exchange) surgery is an ideal option for patients who are not candidates for other forms of laser vision correction and involves replacing your natural lens with an artificial lens. This corrects for your glasses prescription and has excellent results.

At Kalyani Eye Care, we offer a free Refractive Surgery screening for patients who want to better understand the procedure.  At this time, you can talk to our doctors and discuss whether you would like to have the full evaluation.  During an evaluation appointment, our surgeons will personally examine you and review all of your testing to see if you are a candidate for refractive surgery.  They will also spend time with you discussing the procedure in detail and answering any questions you may have.  After our surgeons perform your refractive procedure, they will personally examine you at all of your post-operative appointments.

We are proud of our Patient Testimonials!
